Pillow Pets - Review & Giveaway!!

By now, i'm sure you've heard of Pillow Pets, or at least seen them in stores (or on TV). They've become quite a fad....and with good reason!

It's no surprise that kids love stuffed animals. They're cute, they're cuddly, and they often provide companionship for little ones with active imaginations.  Pillow Pets do all of that, and then some! As the jingle goes... "They're a pillow, they're a pet, they're a Pillow Pet".

If your kids are anything like mine, they're always stealing your pillows. At the end of the day, all I want to do is climb into bed, and rest my head on my pillow. That's not always possible when they've already been in my room to snatch them off the bed. By the time I realize it, they're asleep. So, i'm left pillow-less. Doesn't make for a good nights rest lol.

Here's the kicker. These adorable and oh so plush creatures, are actually quite comfortable. So, THEY are the ones now safe guarding. Momma loves these so much that she (ahem.. that's me lol) will sneak in and swipe it. Sure, I give it back, but I love them so much that i'm willing to trade! Note to self: Try and talk to the kiddos into tradesies!!

I'll let you all in on a little secret. We actually own a knock off of a Pillow Pet. I thought they would be similar. I was so wrong. They look similar in photos but in person, there is a huge difference. They're made from a low quality material and are no where near as fluffy. It was actually quite flat. You definitely couldn't use it as a pillow. They also don't hold up. We had the generic one for a week and the stuffing started to fall out.

If you take a look at the photo to the right, you'll see my 11 year old, giving her Pillow Pet a squeeze. Notice how big it is? These are quality products!

Since we own a generic one as well as the real deal, I took some side by side photos, so you could see what a drastic different there is in quality. I could tell you all day about how much better a brand name Pillow Pet is, but i'm sure you'd rather you see for yourself. So, here's a side by side comparison.

The one on the left is the actual Lady Bug Pillow Pet. The one on the right is the knock off. The generic one cost me $11, which I thought was a good deal at the time. Now i know better. Especially since the official Pillow Pets are on sale right now! Normally, the large ones are $24.99 (and well worth it), but if you order by April 10th, 2011, they're marked down to $19.99. As an added bonus, Pillow Pets has provided us with a code which will drop the price even lower! Use code BLOGGER and you'll only spend $14.99!! So, for a few dollars more then the generic one, you can get an officially licensed, top quality Pillow Pet. Can I get a heck yeah?!

We love Lady bugs, but there are several others to choose from! Here are just a few:

Magical Unicorn Pillow Pet
Comfy Panda Pillow Pet
Playful Penguin Pillow Pet
Buzzing Bumble Bee Pillow Pet
Squeaky Dolphin Pillow Pet
Silly Monkey Pillow Pet
Snuggly Puppy Pillow Pet
Ms. Lady Bug Pillow Pet

All of them are extremely adorable so it's very hard to choose just one. That's the bad news. Ready for the good news??

Lewa's Designs (Wall Decals) - Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

**CLOSED**

Congrats to Crystal C! She is the lucky winner of the Wall Decal Giveaway!

As some of you already know, I have been working on redoing my living room. It was a very dark burgundy color and it did nothing to brighten my mood. It definitely needed a change! I wanted to go for a more natural and earthy feel. Something that fits my personality.

After choosing the new wall color (which I love by the way), I still felt that there was a little something missing. I kept saying to myself "how can I bring the outdoor elements into my living room, while also keeping a modern feel within the room"? Then it hit me... a wall decal!

After doing a little searching, I came across Lewa's Designs. The selection there is superior and will keep your creative juices flowing. The huge selection includes tree decals, sports decals, nursery decals, car decals....you name it! There's so much to choose from! Even better, the color selection is awesome and the prices are amazing!! I learned after doing some searching, that these wall decals can get quite high in price. You won't find that at Lewa's Designs. Psst... as a special treat for being one of our readers, Lewa's Designs has offered you all a 15% discount! Just use code dailygoodie at checkout.

I was told to wait 2 weeks after painting, to apply the decal. I tried. I really did...but when it arrived and I saw how beautiful the decal was, I knew I wasn't going to make it. The box kept calling out to me. It would say "Renee, open me. I'm too beautiful to hide". Ok, so maybe it didn't really speak, but I was so excited and anxious, I didn't make it past 2 days lol. Fortunately, the paint I used was (very) dry in only 30 minutes.

I'll admit, I was a bit apprehensive about applying the decal. It's rather large. I was afraid that I would get air bubbles while applying it, and ruin the whole thing. I'm proud to report though, that it was all in my head. Her easy to follow instructions (which are included with your decal), alleviated my anxiety...and away I went. As you can see in the photo (pictured to the right), the decal I chose came out beautifully!

Applying the decal was much easier then I initially thought it would be. There are a few basic (but important) steps. If you follow these simple directions, your decal will come out perfect with very minimal effort.

Before placing the decal on your wall, make sure the surface is clean (and dry). If there is any dust, give it a quick wipe down with a damp cloth. Once it dries, you're ready to move on to the next step. With the area prepped, position the decal on your wall, where you'd like it to end up once finished, and hold it in place with a few pieces of tape. Note: Do not peel either side just yet.

Once you're happy with the positioning, grab a credit card and rub the entire surface, applying pressure with each pass. This will ensure that your decal sticks properly. After you've smoothed it out, peel back (separate) a small portion of the under layer (paper). Don't separate the whole thing as it's best to work in sections.

With a pair of scissors, remove the excess paper from the under layer, and smooth the decal onto the wall, using your handy dandy credit card. You're going to rub the top layer, which will adhere the decal to your wall. It's best to smooth from the inner area, outwards. You'll be less likely to end up with air bubbles that way.

Continue the process of smoothing/rubbing, until the entire decal is on the wall, and you're left with nothing but paper. Remember, cut the excess paper from the underside as you go. Otherwise, it will get in your way. It shouldn't take you more then 15 minutes, and that's if you're being extremely careful (which I was). You have to admit that 15 minutes of your time, for something this beautiful and bold, is simply amazing! Best of all, it comes out looking like a mural, not a vinyl wall decal. Pretty neat.

The only thing left at this point, was for me to add the leaves. The process is pretty much the same but I did not need to tape the leaves down. I just cut around each one, peeled back the under side of the paper, stuck the leaves where I wanted them, and rubbed my credit card across the outer layer of paper. Once it was in place, I slowly peeled the outer layer off. That's it! A simple task for an exquisite design!

Do you have a place in your home that you'd like to spruce up, without spending a fortune? If so, Lewa's Designs can help you out. Actually, they've agreed to help one of you for FREE, by offering this gorgeous 5ft Dandelion (pictured to the right)! Winner will get to choose which color they would like.

Teething Bling - Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

**CLOSED**

CONGRATS to Trisha, Kara and Elizabeth. You 3 are the lucky winners of our Teething Bling giveaway!

How many of you mommies out there have a little one who is always tugging at your jewelry? More specifically, your necklace?! My youngest (she's 6 months) is constantly yanking and pulling at mine, and of course, putting it in her mouth. Not only does it hurt my neck, but, I always worry about what these places use to create their fashion accessories. I can't imagine that they take into consideration, a teething baby who wants to gnaw.

We all know how hard it is to be fashionable when you're a mother. Especially when you have more then one child. You're unable to focus on yourself as your first priority is (and should be) your little one(s). Why though? Why do we have to choose? Why can't we have the best of both worlds? Ah.......but we can! The answer? Teething Bling by Smart Mom Jewelry!

Teething Bling, is a wonderful line of wearable teething products. Fashionable for mom and safe for baby. Their products are made from the same FDA-approved material as most teething toys, but offer more then one use. Your little angel can chew, while you rock a gorgeous pendant / necklace! This has got to be one of the most inventive and genius ideas I have ever seen.

The photo above is the necklace I received in order to do the review. It's such a beautiful, yet neutral color. I love that it matches pretty much everything, but adds a little touch of "ooh la la" as well. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love earthy tones, so this adorable pendant is a match for me.

Which brings me to another wonderful tidbit of info. The color options!! There are so many beautiful colors to choose from. Plus, they're so affordable that you could buy several of them! Here are a few examples:

Just by looking at them, you would think they're a hard plastic, but they're not. They're actually quite soft. They're more like a soft rubber of some kind. They're perfect for little mouths, looking for some relief. Such a simple idea but as I mentioned earlier...brilliant!

Your choice go beyond color. Some of them are actually scented too! The cream colored one above is vanilla scented. Pretty cool huh? Ready for an infomercial??? But wait....there's more!! You're not limited to just necklaces. They also have bangle bracelets (for mom) and even ties for dad!! The ties are really neat because they have a built in squeaker and rattle. Pretty nifty!

So here's the bottom line.....they're beautiful, they're affordable (less then $20 each), and the color selection is amazing. The only negative I can come up with, is that my little one loves it so much, I don't get to show it off as much as i'd like. It's hard to see it from the inside of her mouth LOL

Who want to win one?? Well, 3 of you will! That's right....there will be THREE WINNERS! Each winner will able to select which color pendant they would like.

Here's how to enter:

Creative Cakes By Theresa - Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

**CLOSED** Have you ever watched any of those baby shows on TV? When I was pregnant, I used to watch them constantly! One of the things I remember seeing quite often, was a diaper cake at the mother-to-be's baby shower. I always thought they were a fantastic idea, and wished someone had made one for me. My youngest may be 6 months old, but I got my wish... thanks to Creative Cakes By Theresa!

Theresa sent us a beautiful diaper cake to review. When it arrived, I was extremely anxious to open the box. I suppose the excitement was slightly high! Of course, I didn't pause for a second. I peeled back the tape and revealed an adorable two layer diaper cake; bold colors just screaming at me!

Initially, the diaper cake was wrapped in a clear cellophane bag, and tied with a multi-toned orange ribbon. I tried to get a photo of the diaper cake wrapped up in the cellophane, but, it's one of those things that look great in person, but terrible when photographed.

I spent a few moments, admiring every detail, as well as the wonderful goodies that were bundled inside. Quickly, my eyes bounced from diapers, to baby shampoo, to baby lotion, to wash cloths...ending with the topper. An oh so cute rubber ducky that also doubles as a bath thermometer, as the bottom changes color if the water is to hot for your little one.

While the diaper cake is a bit slanted in the photo, I don't believe this to be Theresa's fault. Instead of the carrier placing the box right side up (like a normal person would), he tossed it on my porch with little regard as to what may be contained inside. This left the cake laying on it's side. Some people just aren't qualified to deliver mail (but that's a whole different post entirely).

I really dislike when packages arrive like that, but in this case, it shows how sturdy the diaper cake is. It may have ended up slightly off balance, but it stayed together! Besides, it takes all of 2 seconds to reposition the top tier. Just scooch it over a tad.

Take a look at the photo below. You can really see all of the great items she included in this cake. Notice the color explosion. I love that! I'm all about vibrant colors.

One thing I want to mention is that some of the ribbon is held down with pins. Not a problem, but be sure you inspect each diaper before using them on your little one(s). It's better to be safe then sorry,

I think we're all pretty familiar with the baby wash and baby lotion that she used. Johnson and Johnson products have been around for quite some time. What we may not be familiar with, is her choice in wash cloths. For me, this is a moderately important thing to look over, as harsh materials can irritate a baby's skin (as well as an adults). I wanted to know that if I were purchasing this diaper cake, that I would be getting quality.

I can honestly say, "no, these wash cloths are not cheaply made". Now, you obviously can't feel them from where you're sitting, but, I am able to give you the next best thing. A close up photo of 2 of the wash cloths. Can you see how soft they are? And how cute is that duck?!

I gotta tell you... diaper cakes are all I had hoped they'd be. Theresa does an amazing job, and really shows her creativity. Not only does she make a wide variety of diaper cakes for baby showers and gifts, but she does towel cakes too! These are a more "grown up" variation of the diaper cake, and come with more "grown up" options.

One of the coolest ones I saw on her website, was a towel cake with 2 champagne flutes and a bottle of sparkling grape juice! Perfect for a wedding! This cake includes:

  • 2 Towels
  • 2 wash clothes
  • 2 champagne glasses
  • 1 hand towel
  • 1 candle
  • 1 garter
  • 1 bottle of white sparking grape juice
Buy it now for only $82! A perfect gift for any bride to be!

Creative Cakes by Theresa, is your one stop shop for an elegant, creative and FUN gift! With a little imagination, the possibilities are endless. What an awesome present for a woman, man, or child!

How would you like to win one of your very own? Now you can! Theresa has generously donated a "Confetti Cake" (pictured to the left) and one of you will win it! This cake retails for $38 and includes:

  • 25 Huggies diapers (size newborn)
  • 6 spoons
  • 2 teething rings
  • 2 wash cloths
  • 1 pacifier

Grow With Love Boutique - Review and Giveaway!

**CLOSED** I recently had the pleasure of meeting a very nice woman named Gail. Gail is the owner of GrowWithLoveBoutique.com - A children's boutique with top quality products. I browsed through her website (wanting one of everything lol) and noticed that her prices are very affordable. That's not something you see often when such great quality is offered.

After discussing the possibility of a review and giveaway, Gail was kind enough to send us a darling shirt from her BonnBonn Baby line. For those not familiar with BonnBonn Baby, you're about to be wow'd!

BonnBonn baby offers eco-friendly, antimicrobial bedding, clothing and more! This is the first time i've tried that particular line and I am now hooked. The shirt we received was oh so soft, and fit just right. I literally wanted to climb inside of it, but alas, it's a 2T. I assume it wouldn't fit me LOL

As you can see in the photo of Haylie (my 2 year old daughter), the softness of the shirt can be seen without even touching it! I would love to have a king size blanket in this material!

I watched as my daughter ran around the yard, playing as hard as she could. She is just as bad as my boys when it comes to getting dirty. At first, I jumped! My mind said "oh no! She's going to ruin the shirt before I can even blog about it"! That would just be my luck lol

Turns out, it made for a good experiment. My only regret is that I didn't get a photo of it all dirty. She literally went face first into the dirt. What's worse is that our dirt isn't just dirt. It's clay. RED CLAY! This is near impossible to get out of fabric, so you can imagine the panic that set in when she got it on her.

Fortunately, it was easy enough to remove. I brought her in the house, put her shirt in some warm water, and used a little dawn (the blue kind). I massaged the soap into the dirty areas and let it sit. After 10 minutes of letting it soak, I went to check out the damage. To my surprise, there was none! It came off!! There wasn't so much as a trace of dirt!! Maybe it's the fabric itself, or maybe it's just my lucky day. Either way, I am VERY pleased!

Just so you can see that she really did end up in the dirt, I took a photo of her. Obviously, I first checked to see if she was ok. Once she smiled, I knew it was safe to snap away. So, here's my little one, belly down in the dirt.

Grow With Love Boutique is more then just this one awesome line of products. Actually, there are WAY to many to list!!! There's over 40 different brands carried! The selection is THAT big! Here are some samples of the wonderful goodies you can purchase on her website:

As you can see, there is far more then clothing at this one stop shop. Grow With Love Boutique has a lot to offer, for very little out of pocket. Best of all, there's plenty to choose from for boys too! How great is that?? As a mother of girls and boys, I know that it's much harder to find boutique clothing for my little men, then it is for my princesses. Not anymore! Grow With Love Boutique offers apparel and accessories for boys and girls from newborn to 14!!

Want to do some shopping on GrowWithLoveBoutique.com? How about doing it, HALF OFF?! Two lucky winners will receive a 50% off coupon!! Lucky ducks!!
