About the owner in her own words:  My name is Dee, I am a huge candle/tart addict. I used to always buy “name brand” candles and was disappointed. Couldn’t Figure out why I was spending all that money on these candles for them to tunnel when burning and not scent my house very good. So that is what made me decide, 5 years ago, to start making my own. I went online and did a lot of research about the types of waxes, wicks etc etc. This allows me to be a SAHM which I absolutely love. At some point in the next year or two I am hoping to be able to get a store front.


Review:
I recently won some shooter melts from Dees Country Candles and was SO excited to be able to get the opportunity to try out some natural soy melts. I have heard that soy is better....and I'm becoming a believer!! Why is soy better? Here are a few tidbits I recently learned: No carcinogens are produced from burning soy candles. Soy wax is non-toxic. Little or no soot is produced from burning them. They will not discolor your walls or furniture with petroleum byproducts. Soy wax is a renewable resource; petroleum is limited. It's also biodegradable and water-soluble, which makes it easy to clean up. Burning soy candles also helps support the American farmer. They hold color and scent better than paraffin. Soy candles burn 30% to 50% longer than paraffin and they burn slower and cooler which helps to better distribute fragrance. Another BIG plus...they're less likely to trigger allergies. That's a LOT of points for Team Soy!!


I couldn't wait to get the melts in the mail. When they finally arrived, I could smell them through the package!! I was surprised to see she had included extra melts for me to review...on top of the 4 I won. Some of the scents I received include Orange Cream Cupcake, Butt Naked, Lick Me All Over, Island Fresh, Honey Vanilla Love Dust, and Tahitian Vanilla. The Orange Cream Cupcake is delightful!! A subtle but sweet smell...it reminds me of a dreamsicle. I love it, and so does my Mom!! This was the first scent I put in my warmer, and I can't wait to burn it again! The Butt Naked is a bit of a tropical scent to it. It smells GREAT too and several of my friends picked that one as their favorite. The Tahitian Vanilla is another lovely scent that is Vanilla with maybe a bit of a Nut smell in it. I love the scent of Vanilla alone, but the added extra gives it an awesome twist and makes it unique. The smell carries throughout most of my house with all of the tarts, but is not overpowering in any way. The thing I was most shocked about was the amount of time these bad boys burn. I was expecting maybe a day of burning. I was so wrong! I burned 1/3 of the Orange Melt for 4 days (and eventually put the left overs in a zip-lock bag for later). I would turn it on mid-morning, and then turn it off around 3:00. Then I would turn it back on around 6:00 and let it burn until 8:00. That's a LOT of burn time for just a PIECE of the shooter melt!!

Now think, you can get 10 Shooter Melts for $14.95 right now on her site. Imagine the amount of burn time. Those 10 Melts would last you a LONG time! You just can't beat the quality of these Melts for that price!!! The shipping time was speedy. The customer service was fantastic! Dee is so very kind and sweet. A very easy person to talk to. She offered to let me choose scents, but because of the hard time I have with making decisions (Those who know me - know I am HORRIBLE with that LOL) I just told her to send whatever scents came to mind. I was completely pleased with all of the scents I received. They are all very pleasing to my entire family!! Everyone who comes in compliments me on how good my house smells. I haven't stopped burning them since they arrived and still have plenty more to burn!! I think because of all the benefits of burning Soy, it will be my first choice from now on. I would (and do) recommend her business to anyone looking to try Soy products or try tarts and warmers for the first time. Great quality for your money from a WAHM.
