Skoy Cloth: Review and Giveaway (Expired)

As you all know, our blog is dedicated to helping you save money. We also like to encourage others to "go green" when possible. It's not always an easy thing to do as going green usually means spending green (aka...cash). It doesn't have to be expensive though. There are small changes that all of us can make, to help better our lives and better the earth.

Today's "going green and being frugal" tip, is to use reusable cloth. For some that's cloth diapers, and for others that's family cloth. What you may not be aware of, is Skoy Cloth. Until recently, I wasn't even aware of such a great product. I'm thrilled to say that I have now found an inexpensive and effective way to save money and reduce waste.

Skoy Cloths are like paper towels but look more like cloth! They're 100% biodegradable, absorbent and re-usable! They can be used as a washcloth, paper towel or even a sponge! How cool it that?! So many uses for 1 simple (but wonderful) product. Tip: Using a Skoy Cloth is equivalent to using 15 rolls of paper towels, in an average home!! Best of all, they're dishwasher and washer/dryer safe! You can can clean them and then stick them in the dryer (or even the microwave).

I put these cloths to the test to see how strong they really are. Let me just say that my house ends up in shambles as I am a mother of 5. You can imagine the messes I have to clean and just how bad they can get. For my "test", I decided to find a spot on my counter that has some sort of unidentifiable clear (yet hard) substance.

My sponge was useless so I gave the Skoy Cloth a try. See that icky mess? It didn't stand a chance. Now, I'll admit that I was a tad skeptical at first, but when that stuck on gunk came off, without me having to break a sweat....I was sold!

See for yourself. The photo below is of the same spot, after wiping over that nasty area. It's clean, it shines, and the Skoy Cloth still looks brand new! Keep in mind, I had not used ANY chemicals, or even soap. All I used was water and the cloth. That's it! Obviously I sanitized the area AFTER taking this photo as there was no telling what that funky mess was (LOL) but I waited to do that until the photos were done so you could see the true power of these cloths!

When I was done wiping down my counter tops, it was time to rinse them clean. This part was a little scary. As strong as they are, I was afraid it would melt in my hand like a regular paper towel would. Again, I was proven wrong. It felt like I was rinsing off a washcloth. I was even able to wring it out. Here's a little secret. I tugged and pulled in an effort to tear it apart. I was curious if they were truly as durable as they seemed. I gave it my all but was unsuccessful. Not so much as a loose fiber!

I can honestly say that I am a fan! I always hated sinking money into paper towels, just to toss them in the trash. It feels like wasted money, and it's not very eco-friendly as tree's are being chopped down, just so you can wipe up a mess. There are better (and cheaper) ways to clean, and this is one of them.
